Conscious Eating...Searching For a Better Diet on This Planet

Watch out for my new and exciting 6-weekly series of cooking classes for Vegetarian cooking, a gentler and compassionate way to eat.

Taste and learn about various cuisines from around the world: Indian Northern, Indian Southern, Mediterranean, Middle-eastern, Thai, Sri Lankan and also North American. Classes will be held in Delta or Vancouver. (Location to be notified later).

3 hour cooking classes: $75.00 per person

Cooking is not just about the food – it is about spending quality time together preparing and sharing meals you both enjoy! Make a cooking date with your partner and learn how to:

Inhale the exotic aroma of spices such as cumin, coriander, cinnamon, lemon grass, ginger, garlic and much more as we explore the unique flavours of Caribbean, Indian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Middle-Eastern and Thai cuisines.

Survival Cooking- for Busy Parents & Teens!

Cooking may be the last thing on your mind when juggling busy work schedules and school...

Yet, neglecting your diet and surviving on frozen meals or super-sizing it at the drive-through may be disastrous to your health and wallet! So eat fresh, delicious meals and save money!

Gather up your family for a great bonding experience! Roll up your sleeves and learn to prepare 3-minute breakfasts, portable lunches and 30-minute dinners - all filling, nourishing and finger-licking good!

This practical, hands-on course will teach both parents and teens:
  • Money-saving tricks to shopping
  • Easy meal planning- with a little prep work on the weekend
  • Basic food safety and storage
  • Easy recipes and shortcuts for quick and easy one dish meals like omelettes, fajitas, garlic prawns, pastas, grilled chicken salad, Greek salad, hummus & pita and much more...

Upon completion you will earn you a "Survival Cooking" certificate!


Each of the above 3-hour courses cost $60.00 per person per session, and includes all ingredients used.

Ethnic Cooking

Plan your own cooking party in your home with a group of 6 or more friends, based on your favourite Ethnic theme. Choose from Indian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Sri Lankan, Thai or Tappas and wine. You and your guests will have loads of fun either participating in cooking or just mingling with friends. Everyone is guaranteed a sumptuous meal at the end!

These are all private classes offered at Jini's Kitchen studio in Delta, or conducted as Private cooking classes in Client's own home.

Indian Cooking

Learning about Indian spices is the heart of Indian cooking. Blending spices is a science as well as an art that was used for over 5000 years in ancient Indian Ayurvedic Healing practices. This course attempts to demonstrate contrasting cooking styles and dishes from the Southern and Northern regions of India, and introduce the spices and ingredients used, as well as where to find them. Each sumptuous meal will be followed by a sweet dish and a cup of aromatic chai tea!

  1. Madras style
    South Indian cuisine is well known for its simplicity in direct contrast to the rich and heavy spices used in Northern Indian cooking. A typical Thali (combination platter) consists of a light lentil crepe (Dosa) with a potato filling, served with sambar (lentil soup with vegetables), spicy coconut chutney, and basmati rice.
  2. North Indian style
    The popular request in this class is for "Butter Chicken" or Tandoori-style oven-roasted chicken, with a curried vegetable, Raita( yogurt sauce), served with chapati & fragrant Basmati rice.
  3. Tappas or Street Food
    These are the authentic foods of India available on the streets and open markets! They are enjoyed in all regions of India, and popular at any time of the day. Learn to make low-fat versions of these popular crispy pastries (samosas), meat kebobs, spicy chaats, and parathas served with various chutneys.

All meals will be accompanied by a delicious dessert and chai tea or mango lassi.

Location: Your home or at a friend's. Limited to Vancouver BC and vicinity only.
